To support cultural enrichment, popular studies, and leisure interests, the Library may acquire “best sellers” or “popular titles” in books and media (film, documentaries, television). Criteria for selection will include number of weeks a title appears on best seller lists (e.g. New York Times); box office profits in opening weeks (e.g. >$20MM or greater); and ranking on film scales (e.g. Critic/Audience ratings > 60% on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes). Popular titles in these formats may be requested by faculty to support the curriculum. In such cases (i.e. curriculum support) the criteria for selection are the same as any other resource designated for curriculum support.
