Fintel Library has adequate resources and services to support online classes. Online library collections, including journals, books, media, and primary sources, are numerous and available 24x7 via the internet. Off-campus access to the library's online resources is by using one's RC credentials.
Users may use Interlibrary Loan Services to request materials not available through Fintel Library. Interlibrary loan is used to deliver journal articles, books, and book chapters not held within Fintel Library's collections to the requestor. However, the ability to borrow physical items is subject to identifying libraries that are willing to loan materials. Librarians will work with faculty teaching online courses to identify appropriate electronic resources to mitigate the possibility of students needing physical resources.
For personalized reference assistance, small group instruction, and appointment-based research services, liaisons will employ a variety of tools to facilitate the "in-person" experience (e.g. Teams, interactive chat). Research appointments can be arranged at a mutually convenient time for both the student and the librarian. Interactive chat, using the library text number (540-318-0753), email, and FAQs facilitate ad hoc reference assistance.
