Government Documents: Information for Community Patrons

Fintel Library is a "federal depository library". In 1886, it was designated by Congress to provide access to U.S. government publications. All depository material remains the property of the Federal government. As one of the depository libraries in Virginia's 9th congressional district, we are monitored by the University of Virginia's Library which is the "Regional Library" for our state. The public is welcome to our library and library services.  Reference assistance is available in-house, or by phone, by chat, and/or e-mail:

Visitors and guests of the campus community must obtain a Visitor parking permit. The Office of Campus Safety (9 North College Street) issues general visitor parking permits.  See campus map for location of Campus Safety Office & Visitor Lots.

• The Library building is open during these hours Library Hours
• As a Government Depository Library we provide guests full rights, without cost, to access and use Depository materials.
• Users may be provided guest access to a computer workstations in the Reference area whenever the building is open, allowing immediate access to "online only" documents and finding aids.
• Guests may find it useful to save their documents to a USB flash drive or email documents to their e-mail. Printing services are available. Payments are via debit or credit card only.
• Guests are expected to comply with all college policies regarding behavior and to appropriately use library resources and equipment.
• A Guest Borrower's Card is required in order to use library resources outside the building. (Hollins University students may use their ID card)
