Interlibrary Loan is a service which provides you with materials from other libraries throughout Virginia and the United States. Both books and periodical articles may be borrowed if these items are not part of the Fintel Library collection. Interlibrary Loan usually takes 5-10 working days for delivery of items.
Please provide accurate and complete citation information for each request. You will receive an automated message when your request is filled. You may pick up books at Lending Services and articles will be delivered electronically through your ILL (Tipasa) account.
Items must be returned by the due date so as not to jeopardize our borrowing privileges with the lending institution. Items may be renewed if the lending institution allows renewals and has not recalled the items. Renewals must be requested at least 4 days before the due date.
For additional information or questions, please contact Jeffrey Martin.
1. What is interlibrary loan? How much does it cost to use this service?
Interlibrary loan, commonly referred to as ILL, is a free service that allows you to request materials not owned by Fintel Library or Hollins' library. This means that you might be able to check out items from other libraries as far away as the West Coast. This is a fantastic way to obtain additional resources to strengthen your papers and projects. The trick is to start your research early so that you allow enough time for the ILL items to arrive.
2. How will I know that my ILL items have arrived? Where do I pick them up?
You will receive an automated message when your items have arrived. The items can be picked up at the lending services desk any time during open hours. Please pay special attention to the due dates on ILL items as they almost always have different due dates than those used by Fintel Library.
